Confidential retained search. A fast-scaling organization is seeking a Chief Technology Officer / Director of Engineering to lead technology strategy, engineering execution and platform scalability. This executive role is for a technology leader who can balance strategic vision with hands-on technical judgment, building high-performing teams and modern systems that enable business growth. What you'll do

• Define and execute the technology roadmap aligned with business strategy and product vision
• Lead engineering, infrastructure, security, data and platform teams across the organization
• Build and scale a high-performing engineering culture with strong hiring, development and retention practices
• Oversee architecture decisions, cloud infrastructure, DevOps and platform reliability
• Partner with product and executive leadership to translate business objectives into technical priorities
• Ensure engineering delivery, velocity, quality and operational excellence
• Own cybersecurity, data privacy, compliance and risk management programs
• Drive technical innovation and evaluate emerging technologies for competitive advantage
• Manage technology budgets, vendor relationships and resource allocation
• Communicate technology strategy, progress and risks to the board and executive stakeholders

What we're looking for

• 15+ years of technology experience with significant leadership in engineering and architecture
• Proven experience leading engineering organizations through rapid growth and scaling
• Deep expertise in cloud-native architectures, SaaS platforms, modern development practices and DevOps
• Strong track record of hiring, developing and retaining technical talent
• Experience partnering with product, design, sales and executive teams to deliver business outcomes
• Strong understanding of cybersecurity, compliance, data governance and platform reliability
• Exceptional communication, influencing and executive presence
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent experience
• Experience in a confidential or retained executive search is a plus

Nice to have

• Experience as a CTO, VP of Engineering or senior technical leader in a high-growth company
• Background in AI, machine learning, data platforms or marketplace technology
• Experience with M&A technical diligence and integration
• Active contributions to the engineering community or thought leadership
